Short-term residential rent agreements in Delhi commonly use a flat ₹50 stamp paper for terms up to 11 months; the refundable security deposit is exempt from duty. The security deposit is exempt from duty. Registration is optional for agreements of 11 months or less — which is exactly why the "11-month agreement" is the Delhi norm.

Why it matters
